The Rearing Twenties

Blog Posted by Connie Pachecho: 2/18/2021 7:06:00 AM
The Rearing Twenties I think of a solemn thought~ Of how life's been in a knot~ For a pandemic was caught~ Where this net's been fraught~ For some life's been a clot~ Being out of work for not~ This standstill has been taut~ With the financial face hot~ For other those lil dot~ Has put them under a plot~ The start of this decade's squat~ It sits ominous on a topknot~ Tied and tied to this onslaught~ Where the roaring twenties is sought~ The last hundred were the best shot~ Ought prosperity's present be got~ This last year, I feel I have rot~ And forward to a better spot~ For being in the rear is naught~ connie pachecho 2/18/21 Question-Its been a long 12 months and hopefully the script turns to a happy ending. Was wondering how other here are coping?

As I look at the number of Covid cases today in the US it is definitely trending downward. This is a good sign. In December-January the number of daily cases peaked at around 250K cases a day and today the number of cases are currently down to 60k cases in the US. I guess you can say that for a while there the Trump train was racing downhill without any brakes and somehow avoided crashing thanks in part (imo) to Biden's leadership. Of the two Biden is compared more to a German Shepherd in fighting the pandemic. He has bark, bite and guardian ship. Where Trump was of a fluff fluff dolittle type. I, mean, it's obvious right? Yes it can be this or that. Hopefully blue skies are ahead for all

Somewhere there's a baby kangaroo finding it's first hops. That's what interests me. The past is the past. But thank you for the kind words.

Connie, great writing, well here in Canada our 2020 was a nightmare and 2021 so far has been the same, business's shut, stay at home orders, no travel allowed, masks all the time when out or face a fine, curfews, and the vaccine's in Canada are slow to come to the people, always an excuse by the government, now they are talking about the variants of Covid 19 that are even deadlier, it is a very scary time in history, so I stay home and write, hope you are safe and keeping well _Constance

Connie, pretty much the same for me, there is a community college that is open for study and is walking distance to me and it has a Starbucks Coffee that is open with lots of nice comfortable arm chairs social distanced apart, I spend hours there people watching, writing, checking out PS and FB and pondering this life _Constance

Constance, thank you for your insight. It is much the same here in Hawaii (Kailua), where my daily routines and pursuits are on hold. I'm talking simple, like hanging out at McDonald's (no dining allowed), or bars (closed for most of the last year) and or visiting friends or relatives (find it better to be safe). Local collegiate (partial) and high school sports, entertainment I like to watch on TV, are on hold. On the plus side, there's no traffic and many empty seats on buses. A lot of businesses that rely heavily on the tourism dollar are going under.
