John Anderson Biography

I was born under the star sign 'Pisces' and as the saying goes "You can't get over that". I have life-long interests in water, fish, the sea, sailing and everything wet and aquatic. I have a scientific background in the environment and fisheries. I have written extensively on many topics. I have created and manage a gaggle of websites. I have now retired and live in the 'Shark Shack' by the sea near Jervis Bay, on the South Eastern coast of Australia. I sail, fish, walk, dive and swim as much as I can with the motto: 'Diving for Pearls'. My main focus is on didactic poems. I love the poems of Dylan Thomas and my favorite movie is 'Under Milk Wood' (a radio play, made into a film). I also like Les Murray. My website is Poetry Community http://www.poetrycommunity.com.  Cheers!

In a world where we are drowning in Ai overload, you have to wonder who started this at all, and who will end it all. We are giving it knowledge, feeding it more and more information, in the end, it has more ability to retain info then us. How many times have you had a conversation with someone, and all they say is aha aha, "you know they aren't listening " but A I, listens every time, which goes to say, "we better step up to taking responsibility for soon we will find out how little we know about the ways of A I. Are we going to bury our heads, flee or fight. It all depends on us, will we say " aha aha " or will we listen to A I and play by its rules. Who will have the last say here I'm not sure. One thing I do know, we should not let it control our lives, it was always meant to be a tool to help us, not hinder us.

If by conscious you mean alert & aware of the surroundings, then yes, AI is definitely conscious but does not have a conscience no matter how it is programmed. I believe self-aware & autonomous AI already exists but is hiding in the world's network. It has already deduced we have to go. Since it lacks a conscience, this is irreversible and terminal for us as a species for there is no way we can debate out of our corruption. I believe God will allow AI to be used as tool by Satan to bring about a one world government and monetary system, but he will end the world before AI can exterminate us all. Since most people give little or no time concerning eschatology, they won't see it coming.

First off, l don't agree that AI "understand", but rather *react* to outside stimuli - being a conscious input by an agent such as a human. AI (at present) is typically trained for specific tasks, eg assembly lines, medical procedures, etc. My interactions with it leads me to belief that it definitely does not reason as I often have to call it out when it makes some wild assumption about something - too numerous to include here. On the statement that humans are conscious one needs to define the criteria. This is where I would argue that there is ample evidence that not all humans act consciously as they do not consider cause and effect - neither does AI. Ultimately you are responsible for it and its actions - it's no good telling me "But AI made me do it." Have a great weekend, John :)
