How to Create a Song Audio for your Poem

The instructions are for Suno - there are other options which are very similar.
1. Sign in to Suno
Go to suno.com and sign in. You can sign up for free and you get 10 pairs of song makes a day, with no carry overs. Subscriptions are relatively cheap => 2500 songs a month for about $8 a month.
2. Create a New Song
Click 'Create'. (down the left hand side of the page)
Turn on 'Custom Mode' (or 'Advanced', depending on the version of Suno you're using). Its at the top of the page.
3. Paste Your Lyrics
Copy and paste your lyrics into the Lyrics box. You can choose to include the title or not. Use spaces between verses and perhaps add extra punctuation such as "...." to improve the way it sounds.
For best results, organise them clearly, for example: [Verse 1], [Chorus], [Verse 2], and instructions such as [Guitar Solo], [Soft Chorus], [Big Finish] - I don't use these as it complicates things.
4. Describe the Music Style
In the Style of Music box, describe exactly what you want.
For example: Slow blues with bottleneck slide guitar, smoky male vocal, emotional, soulful.
OR Gentle folk ballad, warm female vocal, heavy metal, blues, folk, rock etc.
Often a simple 'piano recital' or 'guitar recital' works for a poem that is not written as a song.
'folk ballad' works well for a longer poem.
5. Choose Options ( they're down the page)
The main one is 'Vocal Gender' => either 'male' or 'female'
Then add your title under the options box next to the 'music note symbol'
6. Generate
Click Create.
Suno normally generates two different versions; adding them to you play list.
Listen to both, by clicking  the 'play arrow' that displays once they are ready. Choose the one you like, or change the options and create two more versions.
To download the MP3 click the (...) button down the far right side - select 'Download' => 'MP3 Audio' for the one you have chosen. You will have to wait a few minutes for the file to be compiled. Look for its length in minutes to appear in the play image button. Incidentally the images are quite good!

7.Adding an MP3 file to you poem on Poetry Soup

Once you have the mp3 file it is easy. If file is larger than 3 MB, compress it using the 'compress audio' link above the 'upload MP3' button. To do this => Browse - to select your file. Choose the 'Medium File Size - Recommended' option => click - 'Upload File' . Wait, then click the link that appears to download the compressed file and use it. [It takes about a minute or so ]. If the original file is smaller than 3 MB you can use it straight away.  
=> Click 'Choose File' in the 'Attach Audio to Your Poem' area at the bottom of the page. Upload it using the green 'Upload MP3 File' button next to 'Choose File' 
=> Wait - when done the 'play audio area' will be shown with a time displayed, up the page.
=> Fiinally click 'Update Poem' - this is very important 
=> Then it's done! 
If you want to remove the audio click the 'Delete Audio' button in the middle of the page. You can upload another version, but poetry soup will play the old version for about 30 minutes until the old version is replaced.

One final suggestion: after Suno generates a song you like, don't hesitate to regenerate it several times using the same lyrics but a slightly different style prompt. Small changes can produce dramatically different — and sometimes much better —results. Another important hint => Use the song plays to improve the rhyme and meter of your poem lyrics!!! Edit your draft poem in a word processor as you hear it play. Then post the revised version of the lyrics back into Suno and re-create.
