NOTE THE SELAH

The Old Testament Psalms often have some guidance to the reader, with the sub heading',Maschil' (,contemplation) and often indicate a pause after some verses (,stanzas) by the use of the word 'Selah'.
This is helpful and often ,when used in poetry, an aid to understanding.
However sadly,in many of the modern poetry anthologies published nowadays that I have reviewed over recent years ,they rarely contain sufficient notes of explantation by the poet of the background to many of the poems therein.
The late ,and great modernist poet Marianne Moore used brief notes to great effect and added much value thereby.(happily some poets also use this approach on PS and in moderation,is most welcome imho)
