Relaxing on our recently
Assembled Sarasota Breeze
Deck-chair sipping an ice-cold tea
I spied a House Sparrow stirring
Within our small evergreen tree
That stood outside our deck gateway.
I heard it sound a single chirp
So I decided to mimic
In kind my version of the song;
And, lo and behold, the sparrow
Shot out through a small opening,
Glanced sideways at me, then flew down
And circumvented both my ears
Then flew off having the last word
While I sat alone dumbfounded.
