The Tree Star

I took aim in the dark sky
I loosed the arrow to that star
Trust in my instinct, I didn't ask why
The wind knew true, it guided far

A pale fiery streak
Brought my arrow back to the earth
My arrow landed, a tree's root did seek
A type of life I gave birth

It was not My life
It was not the birth I had aimed
My heart exploded, torn in strife
The stars and tree were not the same

But my tree did grow
It lit the night sky with irridescent limb
The star yearned to touch, to bow low
Their light stretched so hard it grew dim

And I saw the tree was strong
Made bright by my soul
And solid in my heart it did belong
Illuminating a space, filling a hole

The Tree was not the arrows cast
But it was for Me
And at the end of my arrows path
The tree was the only target to see

It surpassed the star
That once was my wish
My tree will be seen from afar
A beacon even the stars can't dismiss
