Silence

Silence, silence is all that could be heard.
       I wanted an apology
A simple sorry, but you shut me out
You believed that buying me gifts,
And showering me with affection was forgiveness.

All I wanted was a sorry.
For the love of God! I'm screaming
I'm shouting at the top of my lungs
You'll do anything, you'll give until you are broke
        Money doesn't buy my love.

You'll suck up your prideful spite
You'll say "Here, have this, let me get you this!"
When all I needed was to see that you felt bad for hurting me.
It was like a sharp blade twisting in my back
It was being crushed by a heavy weight, an unbearable weight.

        You abused me.
        It was simple as that.
I was a bitch, your spoiled brat
You said I deserved the beatings you gave me.
        Then you would feel sick.

You would buy me Paris if you could,
Drown me in luxury and still see if I would love you
You would never say sorry, for material objects meant more to you
Than anything else in this damned world.

Do you still think I love you now?
For I am silent and have no choice than to forgive someone like you.
       I'll ignore you,
       Until sincerity leaves your lips.
Maybe, one day I'll leave you, will sorry be heard then?

This is a Free Verse poem, and so well written too. Your story is a very painful one, I hope it is not your own story, but if it is, I hope you are ok. Welcome to PoetrySoup :)
