My Sweet One

My sweet one you are so brave.
Your future holds darkness.
Yet you paint those pretty flowers.
The darkness will come, but not at this moment

My sweet one you are so courageous.
You hide your panic behind a beautiful smile.
So much future to worry and fret about.
But today the darkness is held at bay.

My sweet one you are so gutsy.
You wake each morning to face the dim future.
Yet you make me laugh with your wit and humor.
The darkness will not come today.

My sweet one you are so fearless.
Yet your heart is full of dread for the impending.
So much left to see and accomplish.
The darkness will not dim your spark.

My sweet one it is your eyes that betray you.
Yet your eyes are so beautiful.
I could look into those eyes for hours; astonished by that glint.
The darkness stands out there in the future.

My sweet one you are so spirited.
One would believe you to be fearless.
You face an uncertain future anyone would dread.
The darkness is coming, but not today.
