Where Did She Go

Where did she go?

Carefree wisps of blonde blowing behind her
Lush green running, laughing, circling around
Lonely crickets chirp on a southern night
She disappears; time keeps her memories

Summer night, a car ride with her best friend
Music blaring, smoke swirling in the wind
Morning bell, gossiping girlfriends, date night
She disappears; time keeps her memories

Old house, young love, married life just begins
Farm for him, college for her, future plans
Baby girl to arrive in November
She disappears; time keeps her memories

New house, mature love, life is busy now
Sister and brother, school, birthdays, field trips
Running, cooking, loving; her life is full
She disappears; time keeps her memories

Moving to the country, kids are growing
Boys with toy guns, dirt bikes, and fishing poles
Shopping trips, make up, lip-gloss, and curled hair
She disappears: time keeps her memories

Prom dresses, math tutor, weekend parties
A blur of friends, nighttime kisses, and love
Weekend riding, dancing, work, summer’s here
She disappears; time keeps her memories

Finding herself again, a piece appears
Sister in college, brother on the farm
Time for us, family time, time to love
She disappears; time keeps her memories

Future is coming quickly, please slow down
Marriage, babies, empty house, not ready
Every step, she wants to do again
She disappears; time keeps her memories
