Eighteen

EIGHTEEN

How could you be so cruel to me
to treat me like you did

To build me up and let me down
a long way down my friend

I gave you all I had to give
   and gave myself in vain

One more heartbreak on you list
   you'll never feel the pain

If I should see you on the street
and the guilt in you should spread

Our pride means much to both of us
   pounding in our heads

So walk on by and I won't cry
least not for you to see

You will never know and I won't show
just what you meant to me.
