Parked Car Conversations

Lying can have many feelings
You can feel it in a song; one you know can’t possibly be real because who is ever really that in love with another person?
You can feel it when you try on clothes after coming off an
“I love my body so much”, self-love high, and realizing maybe two sizes up would look better.
You can also feel it when you hold the hands of your long-time lover; a person you’ve spent three years of your life with and you just keep counting down the hours until they leave.
You can definitely feel it in the kiss goodbye and exchanged “I love you’s”.
That night as I sat in your car
And listened to your voice
I didn’t hear lies
Your genuine words carried my body, mind and soul
It felt like a waltz
You spoke in ¾ and I followed every measure, every beat
Made sure I was following your tempo
But then,
The music stopped
The time; however, didn’t
It was almost time for the music to end
But it wasn’t goodbye without
A kiss
I let myself get consumed in you—
It was as if my mind wandered
And my lips took charge
But we were off beat
And your touch felt like coloring outside the lines
And your hands made my body feel like a Ouija board;
What was the answer you were so desperate to find?
I never knew lies could feel physical
I always believed your soul could feel them,
 But not your body.
Your kisses down my neck felt like
The kind of lies you get away with
And feel no remorse
I heard all the words I could handle,
And left you with blank spaces,
Before the lies could turn
Pathological.
