Santa's First Flight

“Santa’s First Flight”

Christmas Eve’s upon us

A most wondrous night

Many wonder where Santa

Goes first on his flight

It’s been the same

For so many long years

It’s not where you think

It’s a place filled with tears

Santa knows best

And who gives us the right

To be safe in our home

On this most solemn night

When my reindeer are ready

And my sleigh is all packed

My couriers know the journey

No whip needs to be cracked

On this glorious of nights

Heaven opens its gates

Santa fly’s up to heaven

Now I mustn’t be late

Tonight we celebrate

The Bethlehem Child

He gave us tonight

So tender and mild

I ask for His blessing

On my journey tonight

For I fly first to our warriors

Who gave us this right

His angels will fill

On this Holiest of nights

My bags with God’s blessings

For our men and women who fight

Then down to the earth

My reindeer and I

Fly first to a place

Where war fills the sky

I see in my sight

A lonely abode

Let’s settle the sleigh

By that hut near the road

I dust off my suit

And approach the front door

This ramshackle house

Surely no one lives here no more

I walk into the room

To a Marine I give pause

I soon settle his caution

I said it’s me, Santa Claus

Rest easy my son

On this special of nights

I have a gift from heaven

From the creator of tonight

He said Santa my friend

I’m so happy to see

That Christmas goes on

In the land of the free

Son here in my sack

I have a gift from God

It’s His love from heaven

The Marine bowed with a nod

His job is like yours

To protect and defend

Marine I can tell you

Our God is your friend

The Marine said Santa

This is your busiest of nights

Why come here first

To the most horrid of sights

To the Marine I replied

Santa loves you the most

You protect our freedom

So Christmas I can host

Without you my son

On this Silent Night

There would be no gifts

No sleigh would take flight

The Marine said to me

Its time, you must fly

Deliver your gifts Santa

Now go, Semper Fi!

I gave him a hug

And placed God’s gift in his heart

I jumped in my sleigh

Yes now I can start

Now the world knows

Where I take my first flight

I wish a Merry Christmas to all

And to all a goodnight!
