A Long Ride

Soft hair Smooth skin Nice teeth Enticing
Knowing what good fortunes all these would bring
Soft hands Smooth face Nice build A young thing
Haste decisions with no direction; consequences to deal with
Soft voice Smooth game Nice approach Pullin' those
Thinkin' he grown 'cause he the oldest, smokin' squares and doin' bold things

Thinkin' he got this
Thang called life all figured out
'Till he figured out his seed would sprout
What to do now
He still lived in his mother's house
Good thing he never doubted having to step up to the plate like a man
But his troubles had only began

Soft heart Smooth demeanor Nice look on life "This gone be easy," he said
"I'm generic in every factor, they should accept me," he said
Soft blows Smooth no's Nice rejections Now he's perplexed and
He just can't understand, he had it all figured out
They messed up all his plans, he had it all figured out
Soft facial curves Smooth features Nice genes A black man
Say no more but the latter, to them that's all that matters

Thinkin' he got this
Thang called life all figured out
'Till he figured out
He'd never be given a benefit of doubt
What to do now
Just wanted to make his mama proud
Take care his girls 'for they got wild
His troubles would never end it seemed

Soft no longer Smooth takes over Niceates necessities
No questions please as he's speaking on his mind
Throughout his troubles, tell what he finds

Hopin he got this
Thang called life all figured out
Because he finally figured out that
Life ain't ever what it seems
You get delt terrible cards, and to everyone happens terrible things
Yes even him
But he must simply
Live out life abiding by right
Make sure he pray and hold on tight
'Cause it's gonna be a long bumpy ride
