Cookies and Cream Ice Cream

My life was like cookies and cream ice cream.
Black and white.
It has to be always perfect, or else it’s never enough.
It must be the right amount of sweetness or it will be bitter.
Emotionless. A statistic. Paper thin and bright.

That changed when I tripped and got cookies and cream ice cream on your tie dyed tank.
Your eyes danced with humor when I apologized.
My skin burned when you pulled me up leaving my heart racing.
You brought me another ice cream and walked me back home leaving me with a trial of emotions.

My hearts started racing when I saw you in my math class the next day.
I look at you and you were already staring back.
You smiled with a wink making my knees go weak.
I sat down across from you.

Little did I know the shadows in your eyes, saw the agony of my world,
That were conditioned to stay inside.

Knees wobbling.
Hands shaking.
Heart racing.
Nerves beating.
He made my world colorful again.
