A New Start

Open Hands
Open Eyes
Open Hearts
Open Minds
Why can’t OUR world be open?
We’re stuck in a world of hate
Where people always segregate
Themselves and others
Trying to find some kind of cover
For their fears
Their lack of knowledge
Their lack of strength
But what do we have to prove?
EVERYONE has the opportunity to lose.
Whether you’re black, white, straight, or gay.
Whether you’re Christian, Jew, or you just don’t pray.
We need to stop and think for a moment
About the major component that connect us all.
It’s not the color of our skin
Or what we believe in
It’s the soul that rests within
And HOW we live our lives.
People speak words that cut like knives to people they don’t even know
Because many years ago their families were raised to believe
That anyone different was out to deceive
But this way of thinking has our clock ticking
To destruction we create ourselves
A war amongst the ENTIRE human race
Because someone couldn’t handle a little taste
Of a life different from theirs.
We NEED to stop hate and just try to communicate
That we are not unified under One God or heavenly being
But through a tear, a smile, a hug, a laugh
Life
We are unified through life.
We all go through happiness and strife.
So let’s just leave it at that
Because we don’t want a world only colored in white and black
But in a multitude of colors beyond our wildest imagination
Open YOUR hands
Open YOUR eyes
Open YOUR hearts
Open YOUR minds
Because we are the only ones who can find the peace on earth that everyone is
trying to find
It has to start somewhere
Why not with us?
