The Shot
Sweat bearing down his forehead,
like pearl beads rolling down the glistened surface.
He sees the enemy racing down -
their goal is to stop his
Left, then right, then left once more
Slight slipping and sliding in an effort
to free himself, to position himself
for his one purpose.
An open seam, he finds, and up he goes
Arms cock back like a gunman preparing
to fire his final bullet.
Up, up, up and swish. Goes the ball, victory.
