Warm Daydreams

In the dusk of the setting summer sun
Clouds of gnats performing their chaotic dance
Lying in the grass, I would watch them
as I daydreamed
Someday, I would be a grown up
I would have a car
A first love
I pluck a blade of grass from the patch by my
hand and nibble it slowly, mindlessly
As I wander in my
head I wonder,
Would I be tall?
Where would I work?
Surely I would go to a prestigious university
after highschool
But for now... Something tickles my leg
An ant is exploring me
I idly brush it off and settle with
my thoughts once again
Arms behind my head
I dream of a life to be
Knowing all the while it will most likely
not happen like that
But losing myself to the fantasy
nonetheless, as the sun paints
the sky a brilliant rainbow
