Trapped

Is there truth behind this madness?
I'm afraid I'll never know;
How can I escape the sadness
When I'm too afraid to go?

"Hope" means nothing when you're lost;
"Faith" can't force you to believe;
"Love" is never worth the cost
When your heart is on your sleeve

I am all that you desire;
I am living with a curse;
Raise your hopes a little higher,
And I'll only hurt you worse

I have no love in this heart;
No one ever understands;
The hands that held me fell apart;
I put no faith in your hands

On the surface, weakness blooms,
But the hate inside grows tough;
No words echo in these rooms,
But the silence is enough

When you speak, I do not listen;
When you listen, I tell lies
So the tears won't start to glisten
When you look into my eyes

You won't be the one to save me;
No one's saving me today;
After everything you gave me,
I still threw it all away

Please don't ask me to think of you,
Because we both know that I won't;
Please don't ask me if I love you,
Because we both know that I don't

I know you'd stand by me forever,
But I'll never let you try;
You think that we're in this together;
I've been caught up in the lie

"Truth" means nothing when you're lied to;
"Sorry" doesn't dull the blade;
"Grief" means nothing when you're cried to
By someone who's been betrayed

Even stars fall without warning;
"Pain" means nothing when you're numb;
Scars mean nothing in the morning
When the morning doesn't come

Now my guilt for this has risen;
I'm afraid you'll never know;
How can I escape this prison
When I'm too afraid to go?

When I'm too afraid to leave you,
When I'm too afraid to cry,
When I say that I believe you,
I would rather say goodbye
