Transcending soul

In my soul, transcending this world, I aspire to become anything other than a mere being made of flesh.
A light awaits me, attainable by a simple touch.
My whole being vibrates as I strive to reach that clarity.
“That's why I still walk this planet,” I whisper.

Despite my morals and my suffering, I'm gradually detaching myself from the prison that is my body, to enjoy full consciousness.
I feel it, I feel deliverance arriving little by little. It's hanging by a thread.
So I chose to reach out, index finger pointing at the sliver of light.
he leaned towards me and whispered, “This is just the beginning.”

Then, all at once, my own inner flame was sucked out.
I was breathing fresh air at last.
I heard a breath of relief, and when I turned around, I saw a body lying in a field of grass, eyes wide open, with a kind of peace slowly appearing on its face, at first frozen.

Then i understood.
Understood that death was not the end, but only the beginning of something greater -
and that maybe that's why I'd never been afraid of this apparent end.

I then told the insects that as they began to devour my decomposing body,
they would have visions of what my life was like before my soul sublimated this universe.
