Vanity
I’m a liar, a thief of honesty
my body is a temple of deceit,
my voice screams hymns of dishonor
all to feed my need for vanity
I paint my face in borrowed truths,
a mask of gold, a hollow shrine.
Each word I speak, a fragile thread,
spun to make the false divine.
But mirrors crack and colors fade,
reflections whisper what I hide.
No prayer can cleanse a heart so stained,
no light will take me as its guide.
