Charlize Mundy Poem
I’m a liar, a thief of honesty
my body is a temple of deceit,
my voice screams hymns of dishonor
all to feed my need for vanity
I paint my face in borrowed truths,
a mask of gold, a hollow shrine.
Each word I speak, a fragile thread,
spun to make the false divine.
But mirrors crack and colors fade,
reflections whisper what I hide.
No prayer can cleanse a heart so stained,
no light will take me as its guide.

Charlize Mundy Poem
DNA
“You are not worthy of my love.”
Silent words scorch skin like an invisible flame.
DNA passed down and left to wither,
a family heirloom I don’t dare claim.
A cracked and shattered mirror,
a broken picture frame—
I see nothing of you in me,
and maybe that’s why you never say my name.
But when the scoreboard flashes victory,
your number lights up my screen,
as if a game could bridge the silence,
as if love was something you’d ever mean.
She has your eyes, your sharp-edged smile,
you call her first, like she’s proof you exist.
I wear my mother’s face instead,
a reflection you’d rather dismiss.

Charlize Mundy Poem
Every glance is a sharpened knife
aimed at a love getting harder to hide
my hand splays out, gripping your waist
the blade piercing flesh, desire misplaced
the urge to hold tighter never leaves
leaving me colder than fallen leaves
a body drained, its warmth set free,
bloodless, breathless—cut by need.
