Seeing Jesus In the Thunderstorm

I fall asleep to thunderstorms.
Though I’m under blankets, nothing warms.
The storm winds blow and heavy rain pours,
The lighting flashes and the thunder roars.

My fears light up the night’s darkened sky.
I can’t escape, no matter what I try.
I fall asleep, but then awaken
To find my peace now has been taken.

Please someone come and take my hand
Because even I don’t understand
What is going on inside of me
And how to let my soul run free.

But through the storm, here comes a Fighter
Whose lightning flashes so much brighter
And whose roaring thunder holds the power
To make this darkness run and cower.

Powerful winds begin to arise
As heavy rain falls from pitch black skies.
But in this storm, there’s somehow peace.
When I’m with You, my worries decrease.

The storm rises to a fiercer attack,
But when I’m with You it can’t hold me back.
It tries to hold on so desperately,
But from my fear I’m living separately.

I once was lost, but now my focus
Is no longer on what tries to choke us.
And though there’s chaos, there’s also peace
For I’ve found a love that will never cease.

What I thought was meant to cause me harm
Turned out to be no need for alarm.
In everything You can help me grow.
You are still with me when I feel low.

So let the storm hit this weary land
Because I know with You I can withstand.
And when the storm rages no longer,
I know that I will then be stronger.

Congratulations on your winning work. Way to go. Storms are scary, some very dangerous with some deaths, injuries and destruction of property. It is good to have a stronghold to lean on. Sara K
