Eighteen

Eighteen

A number that holds so much meaning

Any individual who meets terms with this number never feels content

A singular tie to childhood is all that’s left

A bearing weight of adulthood near

An anxious sense of uncertainty for what perseveres

A sentimental responsibility for new freedoms adhere

The time in life that withholds the most confusion

When many individuals unfold a lost sense of self

Chances that are to be taken

May make or break many of the forsaken

Feeling weak and immature, not sure where to commence new foundations

The irritation that follows many families

Not seeing eye to eye anymore for holding different beliefs

Feeling out of place in a home that once babied the child version of each
person

Now having to step foot into the real world, opening new doors

The perspective of life outside might feel so different yet the same

Viewpoints on humanity could endure a slight alter

Heaving burdens from the past of wishing to grow old

A huge transition, not ready to let go

Education such as college or another path

Are one of the many choices during this important year

These very choices are what conjugate an entire future career

A future, that will be a part of one's timeline starting in the beginning adult
years

Eighteen.
