Awakening

’m tired of being left in the cold only to find you turned on a fire to save me from going alone

The strings attached to your sins were bowling balls coming at me for your so called win.

And time and time again I thought you would change but it doesn’t matter now because I’m done with blame.

You have taken every last bit of my empathy and dragged me to apathy

Don’t tell me you tried because it wasn’t until I died inside that you noticed my empty eyes.

Now you’re ready to do your work and I’m left holding all this hurt.

I was your biggest fan and time was on your side.

And though superwoman can fly she can’t reverse time.

You’ll have to grow without me, I can’t find it in me to wait.

as you sling your lows, then try to come in for a high.

A punching bag I’m not. I took all your blows only to love you more.

But time caught up with me and you didn’t see the wave of self love coming for me

We loved wrong right from the start.

Two wounded souls trying to make our way through the dark.

I played a good defense as you pounded your way through my soul.

And now you ask me, where did you go?
