The Hurricane Lamp

SALUTE TO THE HURRICANE LAMP

Hello Mr Lamp
The bringer of rays
Binder of homes
Convener of hopes
Bridger of gap
Remover of pain
Saluu, Mr Hurricane
Second to none

Siblings surround you
In the dark quiet night
Studying for exams
And excelling in them
You shelter them
With your tender arms
Uniting them beyond imagination
Igniting their love beyond comprehension
Blazing the midnight passion
They say we burn the midnight candle
But I say, we burn the midnight lamp

With your influential power
You provoke illumination
In the darkest rooms
Causing an eruption
In the darkest hearts
Building a strong bond
In the largest families
You are man's true friend

Surviving with him
Through thick and thin
You blazed the trail
Of greatest physicians
Steered the steps
Of prominent counsels
Illuminated the tracks
Of strongest aviators
Man's Beautiful Journey
Began with you

Man in turn
Abandoned you
They chose the erratic
PHCN over you
Picked the proud solar
In place of you
Selected the impulsive rechargeable lights
And overlooked you
Uncontentment has been man's trait
Insatiable, his personality

Forsaken you were
Disappointed and heartbroken
You left with the love you brought
Yes you've been replaced
But the vacuum is still there
I celebrate you, Mr Hurricane Lamp
Second to none.
