Final Days (One Final Day Pt.2)

I never understood your ways
But you still kept giving me
A bunch of “final days”
Hey, at least I can say
I am no longer letting my time slip away
I have found my passage way
College, where I am struggling to make an A
But at least I can say
That I did take the time to stop and pray
A lot of people said I should do it
But I still would not do it
Not even a bit
Hey, did I tell you that the mucus is gone
And I no longer have to spit
It feels good to be alive
That much I am willing to admit
I gave up on you from time to time
But you still would never quit
And I appreciate that quite a bit
So are there more “final days” that I am going to get

I am at peace with myself
For I now know
That my problems were not bad
I guess I was just confused
And downright sad
But you never lost patience with me
And for that I am glad
It is good to know that you were there
Even when I was getting mad
Because I remember blaming you
For all the problems that I had
If I recall I was a senior
And I was anticipating my high school grad.
I said goodbye to some of my comrades
And showed disappointment
For the ones that did not pass
Speaking of disappointment
I bet that is what you thought of me
But I made it and I am proud
No more “final days” for me

It sounds like you were suffering from cancer or some other disease for a while? This poem had a good flow about it. Andrea
