The Price

She waited there for him to come.
Dressed in a lovley gown.
She saw the photos of her love
Hanging all around.
The one she held was of that day.
A wedding of true joy.
She knew the news would change his mind.
They made a baby boy.
A little smile came on her face.
This night will be a dream.
She heard his car pull up the drive.
She saw the headlights gleam.
He came inside with one intent,
To tell her of his sin.
But something wrong was in the air.
The pain would soon begin.
The room was tossed all about.
He saw his sweet wife dead.
His mistress stood there in the hall.
Her gown a crimson red.
He trembled there in horred shock.
His world lay at his feet.
This was the price he had to pay,
For his one deceit.
