The Doormat

Tumble
Tumble
Tumble
Out of the dirt and into the rubble.

I’m left with one question
How did I fall so low?
As I tilt my head upwards
I taste dirt and see grass.

I feel your shoes trampling me
I really do exist beneath you
While my purpose it to let you walk all over me
You wipe the remainders of a busy day onto me

Hi
Please Notice Me
At least pick me up and dust me off once in a while.
I welcome all your troubles into my home
It would be nice if I didn’t always have to feel alone.

- the doormat.
