Nineteen and me

Nineteen, your up next in my story
The anticipation, the fear, the wonder of what will be written on your pages
Is almost too much to bear.
Nineteen, this is dawning on me all the sudden
Should I feel older?
While constantly being told to enjoy my youth
Nineteen, please wait, hold on and give me some more time
Your both what I eagerly await and what I wish to escape.
Nineteen, your my symphony with no orchestra
I’ll unravel you piece by piece, play you instrument by instrument
You belong to my future but you exist right here in my presence
I’ll search for ideas, tales of heroin women who’ve come before me on the tv screen
While I daydream about who I might be at nineteen
Will eighteen say goodbye? Wish me farewell
Or vanish, without a hey, everything will be okay.
Nineteen, please don’t rip my girlhood out from underneath me
I’m still only a leaf hanging off a branch waiting to become a tree
Be kind, Be gentle. Im fragile and I’m sentimental
Nineteen, this is potential
A greatness you only know can exist because it hasn’t been born yet
Waiting at the cusp of my innocent hands
I’ll handle you with upmost care and respect in which you demand
Because Nineteen, I do believe your a privilege
What I get to experience with you now
Leading me through a lifetime of learnings, it will lend its truth to me.
When the time comes
Nineteen, you will show me the way
When I knock on your doors
Let me in slowly
Embrace me, Captivate me with your elegance
In a way that screams
Nineteen.. this is the best year I’m gonna have yet.

I welcome you with the love of the Lord, expressed by John 3:16 of the Bible, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." 19 that was so many years ago! I'm reliving my teenage years these days watching my son grow up.
