I Didn'T Know

I didn’t know
how fast this day would arrive

I didn’t know
we had already said our last good-bye

I didn’t know
I would read and re-read our texts I’d kept

I didn’t know
I would dream about your laugh while I slept

I didn’t know
I would long for days gone past

I didn’t know
how long this heart- ache would last

I didn’t know
how many tears could flow

I didn’t know
That it was time to let you go

I just didn’t know….
