Icarus

You think you know my story,
The boy who flew too close to the sun
But did you know how I longed for the marks of Apollo’s love upon my skin,
How the melting wax branded me with hope and freedom
You think ambition is my harmatia
When In reality it was Eros
Love
One of our 7 words for it
I did it for Apollo
My final gift to him
In the hopes that, one day,
We could be together - side by side
watching the world from the golden chariot on which upon he travels
And just as I fell into love with him
I fell once again
This time for the last time
You knew I fell
But did you know I smiled as I did

Welcome to Poetry Soup. I welcome you with the love of the Lord, expressed by John 3:16 of the Bible, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Be blessed.
