Isolated Ignorance

You smelled of a glass half-empty and poor choices,
Truly just another one of the voiceless,
With a stomach full of nicotine, and the breath of smokescreen,
One strap too tight, and one too loose,
Was it pleasure or escape that's truly the noose?

You dug your heels in too deep Dorothy,
Trying to find anything in this life for me,
Exchanging morals for money and regret,
Using excuses that it's too hard to reset,
Finding today becoming tomorrow, but now with nothing to borrow,

But enough about me, that's not what you're here to see,
Never the weight of the words, just the song of the birds,
Ordinary man with currency, finished after I cried "Please stop hurting me,"
Now you have to redo your make-up, stand the -up, and do your make-up,
A workplace injury, is just a regular happening to me,

Standing again, stumbling, stumbling again,
The drunken walk of the sorority on the lawn,
The first steps of a delicate newborn fawn,
The moments just screaming not to be drawn,
Where blood flow begins to blush,
The pause before the needle's flush,

Venus, why yes Venus, you are beneath us,
Transcend this, and expand beyond target and miss,
Bruise? , well, nothing I'm not used to,
We'll just talk this way, and walk that way,
We'll be a good girl and continue to play,

Do you ever remember, the smell of the sheets?
A feint moon glow, or a soft winter snow?
Or even just the places where skin used to meet?
Where did you hide, in that pretty little mind?
To forget the world that left you in a ball, betrayed and curled,

We're a rose grown from city pavement,
Twice the thorns, but none of the misbehavement,
You'll love them, and they'll love you,
Nothing could be further from true,
The proof is in my black and in my blue,

Yet here I again lean, another piece to be seen,
The curves of an hourglass shining beneath lamp light,
A good girl who's learned not to bite,
Do I interest you? Looking to experience something new?
Working of clay is easy, now a simple request, please stay,

I'll be your girl, we can slow dance and twirl,
Drink white wine, live a life so blind and sublime,
Please see the value in we, the value in me,
A loved happy wife, the only thing I want to be in life,
Yet the door closed, and I'm left looking for my clothes.
