Dreaming of the Ties That Bind

I'm collecting joys and pleasures
And the whole of my heart's treasures
So that someday when my love makes me his wife,
I can come with open arms,
With my talents, gifts and charms,
And present him all the savings of my life.

It's the Lord who tells me how,
Through his word, that I should know
All the things that give such meaning to my life.
And I pray, with heart on fire,
That He'll grant me my desire:
To become my Darling's lifelong, loving wife.

When my prince has married me,
I've no doubt that I shall be
Just the happiest of women on that day.
Of my gift so sweet and pure
And my love, he can be sure.
For that future bright and blissful now I pray.

Love is blind, so some folks say,
But I'm longing for that day
When I'll see my husband through the eyes of love.
Then I'll give God all the praise
For His ever-gracious ways,
As He helped me guard my heart from heav'n above.

I am filling my hope chest
With my brightest and my best --
All I am and all I evermore shall be,
A priceless pure collection
As I've strived to reach perfection --
Given on my wedding day -- the whole of me.
