Reset Thinking

Too many days I've spent working out in the gym
Trying to get toned, trying to be slim.
Diet fad failures are too many to mention
I've always began with good intention.

Your told, not to eat this but do eat that
Limit the portions, cut off the meat fat.
Not too many potatoes and eat plenty of veg
Some protein is good, so throw in a fresh egg.

Blend certain foods, the bland shake drink
It does look off putting and boy can they stink.
Tummy starts rumbling, it's protesting back
To give it real food and to stop this diet crap.

I'd jump on the scales but it mostly told me a lie
I felt I had lost loads but the readings deny.
So I'd go to the gym and workout a sweat
Next day I was aching, it was an instant regret.

When the diet did work and the weight is kept off
My reward is the chocolate that I'd eagerly scoff.
Too many rewards out balanced pounds lost
The bits that were toned have gone back to soft.

Yo-yo diets and gym workouts were exhausting and grim
Did I really want this or was it just a fashionable whim?
I wasn't over weight and I wasn't stick thin
God gave me this body and a yo-yo-ing skin.

I reset my thinking and accept, I am what I am
Not to be a stick insect model or to be that glam.
My life won't be controlled by what I see on tv
The only one in control and that person is me.

(I won't give up chocolate though lol)

Hi Emelia, I enjoyed this amusing look at the dieting effort. I started to get hungry at the mention of potatos, vegatables, and eggs (I'm a vegetarian). Yep, you're in charge and you're fine as you are! Don't get me started on chocolate - love that stuff!
