Why Is This Still Happening

I don’t look like the girl next to me.
Same interests, same hobbies, sure.
But to be perceived like her is not guaranteed.
When you look at me and look at her,

Only one thing doesn’t outwardly match up.
My color is one she actually desires.
When she puts it on, it's just a cover up.
For if it was of her own,

She would be mistreated.
A darker skinned has far more worries.
Fears revolving on being segregated.
Even after all these years.

Didn’t we already have protests for this?
Brave men and women fought for equality
Isn’t it finally time to call it quits?
Why is this happening in 2020?

Can we just end this once and for all?
Speak up for you friend.
Go give her a phone call.
Let her know you’re fighting for her.

We cannot stop until we’re all equal.
We can’t settle for anything less.
And to this we need no sequel.
As we know this must be done.

Let us all work together.
To do everything we can
In efforts make this world better.
And to end far from where we began.

My dear Nam Ma, I sincerely feel and understand you. When you run across racial or religious prejudice, just ask what color skin God has, and what church He belongs to. All men are created equal, but many poeople do not see it in black and white.
