Coffee

The scalding steam of bitter black coffee
Kisses my trembling hands.
The bitter sting of winter blanketed by the safe tranquility of spring
A new beginning.

But my lips caress the porcelain cup, warm
Like your skin once was - is.
A ‘forgotten’ memory, still as strong
As bitter black coffee.
