2016-When rain came

Did you not feel the rain? When it came in teardrops. Heaven hid in sack-clouds of ash. And heaved release. Did you not see the roses? Fiery, birthed of stamen- And pollen, red fire life. A posy of warmth and laughter. Did you not see the envy? Of the hand that plucked. One, TWO, three. And the rose bush left bereft. Save for the rain, coming in teardrops. Did you not see him? Planting the dead roses deep. Hoping for some birth. But only rain fell. Did you not see, The young roses. Their petals tinged black and gray. Covered in rain. Those roses were fledgling sparks, Birthed from the bush, in black fire. Did heaven not hope of some spring? Rebirth. When those roses were planted deep. And the clouds wept. Dressed in gray.
To all those who lost loved ones in 2016
