The Ballad of Maddi

The Ballad Of Maddi

We always take the backseat to the cheap people you meet and wonder
why you don't see us down here.
You like to love and coddle but only with a bottle and yet we stand so near.
One day we'll be grown and this coup will be flown. Will you wonder has it all just gone away?
The lesson that you taught us as you all but forgot us is one I'll remember every single day.
Thank God for my mom. She never steered me wrong and she worked so hard to do the best she could. When times got tough she always showed us love and how to get through just like we always should.
So as you sit upon your throne in that loneliness you own, counting down your final lonely days.
I'll still call you dad and I'll be forever glad that my children will never feel this way.
