I Cry

I Cry
As tears flow down my cheek
Flowing strong like a rapid creek,
I wonder to myself, why, Lord why, do I cry?

Even when I'm happy and everyone is well
I find myself constantly overwhelmed.
Battles between mind, body, and soul,
Wondering who'll win and take control.

He looks at me and makes me smile
But it only lasts a little while.

Tears flow.

Can you help me, tall man, with smile so bright,
Or will our conversation end in a meaningless fight?
Can you put a smile on this face
That seems to be lost in space?

Look at me! Don't you see the pain?
From Africa to America, it's all the same.
I cry, and you just sigh.

Then it hits me. I'm not a child.
I am strong, confident, nurturing, and beautiful. I am woman
And upon remembering that, I cry.
