I Never Died

Here they come once again
The thoughts that mock the pain within
I try and try with all my might
To hide the tears and fake a smile
But, alas, I am to weak to fight
It pulls me closer
Hugs me tight
These thoughts are what keep me up at night
To sick to eat
To lost to care
I wonder what it's like out there
Out of this darkness
Into the light
Please just grow wings
And I'll take flight
Soar high above the trees
Let me go
I'll fly free
Away from all the pain and misery that's held me here my entire life
All I can think of now is a knife
The razors edge
So sharp
So sleek
It whispers its plea
Become one with me
I cannot I say
For you lie to me
You never made things better
Get away from me
All the blood and lacerations
I always succumbed to your temptations
But you never once kept your word
You promised you'd help me
Promised you cared
So I pushed you against me with all my might
I slashed and I mutilated my fair skin
Happy the fight would soon end
But you lied
You lied
Broken promises that haunt my mind
Because I'm still here
I never died
