The Greedy Hand

Death and destruction plague the streets
The people’s faces spell defeat
The greedy hand keeps reaching out
Its’ lies shield their minds with doubt
There is no war that is soon to be won
Not with an army, not by a gun
The war is fought in your own mind
Make your decision, now is the time.

The rebels fall by the greedy hand
He watches over every man
Day and night, night and day
To make everything go his way
He wields his power over the world
Over every little boy and girl
He has rarely ever tasted defeat
And no time soon will his end meet.

The greedy hand is held in place
By every tired, solemn face
Walking the streets and wondering why
The greedy hand will never die.

Describes the very world in which we all reside. Truly Sad. Well written.
