Abigail Provencher Poem
Water against fire.
Me against you,
me against my own kind,
me against humanity,
me against my own fate.
Fire stares at itself
through my reflection.
It tries to burn me,
to ruin me, to kill me.
But water can never be destroyed.
It is a never ending war,
a never ending struggle.
It will never stop.
It will never suffice.
Who will win?
Who will give in first?
Who will strive and who will fail?
Who will ever know?
Water against fire.
Me against you,
me against my own kind,
me against humanity,
me against my own fate.
