Forgetting the Past

My Heart
Impaired
Brimming with hatred
My life
Flashed Before my eyes
Trying to forgive
Tricky to forget
One once told me,
"Don't take things so personal"
Actually a few told me
But this person particularly
I would share my world with
Ripped out my heart
and squashed it
as though it was a tiny scrawny ant
Now I must view myself
Examine thyself
Regain what was once lost
Who am I now?
