My Only Friend

Im scared of the dark
No, not the darkness at night,
The darkness that doesn't go away with the light
The darkness that sneaks up over time and traps you in plain sight 
The darkness people say isn't there so you're told not to feel fright
Im Terrified of the dark.
The Darkness that dreams of a noose.
The Darkness that yearns for the day i can let loose.
The darkness that would step in front of a train, or out of a plane, with no parachute 
I Live in Fear of the dark.
The dark that people tell me doesnt exist
That the feelings of anxiety or panic are just me throwing fits. 
I try to tell them, it is real. that it IS legit
They tell me its nonsense, that i'm crazy and threaten to Admit.
I Embrace the dark.
Deep down, ive always known i never should have ran.
After everyone else has abandoned me, the dark is the only thing that still stands.
I Love the dark.
