Lost Soul

It came to me while I was lost and told me it was here to save me.
It told me I was wondering alone in darkness and that it would guide me.
I was alone and desperate with no one to confide in. 
So I told it to help me. 
How could I have known?
That it would slice and slash at me till I could bleed no more. 
How could I have known? 
That it would tie my neck to a rope and laugh while I gasped for air. 
How could I have known?
That it would tie me to chains and watch me as I drowned. 
That it would bring me back to life just to do it all over again. 
It's impossible to escape once you've been caught. 
Every time you fall, it get's harder and harder to pick yourself back up.
After countless torture, you begin to realize that it's easier not to get up.
Sometimes it's easier to give up. 
So I laid there bloody and bruised.
It smiled with a cruel intent knowing that it's task was finished.
Now I roam the nights, waiting patiently for a lost soul to come. 
So I can guide it to the path I took, for it to be saved
