Icu

Fluorescence.
Light steals heat, criminally.
Beep beep beep of a heart lulls
through my sleep.
Morpheus....morpheus.....morpheus....
.....i pray to you.

I look forward to quiet.

Life flight from Walla Walla,
here, to Harborview.
Maybe my judge, or his wife.
Today
tonight
tomorrow.

I look forward to quiet.

I feel him, back to me, curtain a wall
He's accounting.
She fell....a domestic slip,
a coffee table violence,
A felony hidden by vinyl siding.
My handcuffs and guards rotate out.

I look forward to quiet.

"What's wrong?" he asks.
Her monitor protests a beat out of time,
over and over out of time.
Her monitor screams.

I look forward to quiet.

"What's wrong?" he asks like a badgeless officer.
His wife forgot the lub dub lub dub lub dub
cadence everyone forgets until that forgotten
cadence forgets the next, - lub, or, dub.

I look forward to quiet.

"What's wrong!"

Flower flocked nurses work within their own clacking rhythm.
I feel his calluses rip.
I feel his craggy mouth drop,
I feel the straight line whine from her monitor.

I look forward to quiet.
