The Silence Is Broken

The compass is broken and I am lost.
It is dark and I am blind,
Stuck in the pit of my mind.

How to escape this maze?
Where is the end of this race,
You see me, only a blank face.

Wandering in the fog of forgetfulness,
Drowning in the pool of hopelessness.
The water muffles my cries for help.

A rope is thrown,
Grabbing it with death's binding grip,
Pulled to shore, I am lifeless.

Energy spent to bring me back,
To wake me up from death's peaceful rest,
I am torn from his warm embrace.

Cold reality wakes me up,
I am back, only to sink in the quicksand of despair,
The more I struggle to escape, the further I sink.

Trapped once more, I accept my fate,
The die have been cast,
Only to find, I sink into the abyss of fear.

Is there any hope of escape from this nightmare?
I am chained by sorrow,
It's links reinforced by anguish.

You look at me, but you are blind.
Smiling at me, but you do not know,
All you see, is what you think.

How wrong you are, you have no clue,
I am not what I am on the inside,
I am bound, unable to speak.

Hollow outside, you can hear an echo
Of what you perceive, that is all you know.
Will you ever hear my silent plea?

Breaking free from my cocoon of silence,
You hear me even though you are deaf,
Understanding is written on your face.

No longer lost, no longer prisoner,
I take the key of hope and unfold my wings,
Transformed by pain, I am free.
