My Sunshine

My Sunshine

And when I thought my life was at a standstill
A stranger walked in.
He looked me straight in my eyes and I knew
He would change my life within.

A mirror image of myself in every sense.
Same astrological sign, same eyes.
Same love of poetry and music
And never any lies.

Conversations were never needed
Only a look at each other.
Instantly we knew what the other was thinking
Best friend and like a brother.

And when he took me from a lost place.
Far away to the snow and the rain.
For reasons I’ll never understand
That took away the pain

I’ll finally felt understood
And laughed and danced and played.
No need to go out hardly ever
Our home was my first aid.

And when I think of ways to repay him
My mind goes blank.
There doesn’t seem to be anything tangible
I just repeat thank thank thank.

When I saw him cry one night
Drooling and breaking down
I thought dear god if anyone hurt him
I’d throw myself in the sea and drown.

And when we are together my smile always shows
No matter how I physically feel
The most important thing with him
Is he always makes me feel real.

My Favorite Song: Let Go

Let Go is a song about strife
Living a troubled deep struggling life,
Only inner strength to get you through,
Yet by letting go you will birth the real you.

The beauty is in the breakdown
When you've hit rock bottom,
Just waiting it out may keep you
From blossoming next autumn.

Hide and seek, closing your eyes
Afraid of who will reveal you,
It's your heart that cries
And the pain your glued to.

Paralyzed by sadness and fear
Slowly consuming you,
Jump in , get wet
Join the others to get you through.

Clarity may come
When the tears finally stop,
You'll be able to stand again
Without swaying to drop.

Broken

BROKEN

Pick me up because I have fallen
Please take care of me.
I’ve lost a wing that helped me fly
I’ve lost my sense of being free.

Dancing, laughing, loving all my life
Both wings kept me alive.
I’m broken now, sad and scared
Begging to survive.

Giddy I used to be
Breathing in life.
I’m suffocating now,
Dealing with too much strife.

Please fix this wing that’s hurt
So I can be a friend.
All I need is a caring soul with a hand to lend.

Put me back together
Fix what’s ailing me
I’m on my hand and knees
Screaming out with plea.

I don’t want to fade into darkness
Or live in this bubble of fear.
There are people I hold dear to me
To wrap me in cashmere.

A circle of friends I need so much
To surround me with love.
To cure me to be myself
To fly like a dove.

So, I hope you hear me
Reaching out with sincerity and pain.
I need both wings to live again
It’s my happiness I must regain.

White Washed

Blinded by the bright white paint
Surrounded by royal blue.
There is something in the way she looks
Santorini staring back at you.

Black rock beaches with blistering sun
Waterfalls way up high.
People laughing jumping off
Thinking they can fly.

Hotel rooms with giant patios
Tans run deep by afternoon.
Bars to dance in till morning light
Everyone singing to their own tune.

Ladies hair dressed long with threads
And colored beads to match.
Beautiful jewelry handmade to wear
Sangria drunk by the batch.

By

Picture perfect memory
Like love at first sight.
When I’m stumbling through the day
I dream of this at night.
