Cancer and War

Why is my bare scalp showing,
When hers is covered with crimson?
Why is my head just skin,
While hers is engulfed in a river of gold?

These are the questions
My daughter asked me,
Not my physical heir
But the product of my stripped pride.

My daughter, forged from the scars,
Left by a scalpel, closed by a flame.

 A piece of my skin
That stole my young vicious optimism.
A piece of myself
That turned to night.

So when my daughter asks why
I can't answer, I can't explain.
Why do cells turn against cells?
A civil war within one body.
Why do people turn against people?

Small bumps, Large consequences, Small people...
Large conflicts, Mass destruction

Bald heads filling hospital beds,
Young boys taking the jobs of men.
Microscopic entities.
So similar to you and me.

Happiness

Happiness is the rarest thing you know,
Because you are smart.
Pride and inspiration are emotions you never see from your family,
Because they think all of that is inside you.
With such gifts why wouldn't it be?

Differences in being inside the mind and the heart,
Are things nobody seems to understand.
Happiness is the rarest thing you know because you are powerful.

Power scares the powerless,
Power in numbers combined with fear of the majority,
False silencing of broken words that are scary but fact.

Fact in you are not sick.
You are not sick.
You need help, but I promise you,
You are not sick.

I am sick I tell them,
Sick in my head, not my heart.
My heart beats healthy,
My head sees that it shouldn’t and I have what you lack,
The power of a force.

The power of a force to be silent.
To leave you wondering why someone so gifted with mind,
Would be so brainless as to take it away from the world.

You wonder and you wonder and you wonder,
You get nowhere.
How many people have to go,
For you to realize.

For you to realize that the only reason you are reading this is because you are sick,
Because the only happiness you know is happiness in a book,
Not happiness in the sky.
So like many others you float to the sky.
