Life Is Like a Rainbow

Life is like a rainbow
Take it slow
And enjoy the show
No need to rush
The end will be here soon enough
The day has begun
Try making it a good one
Soak up the sun
Relax and have lots of fun
Breathe in that fresh air
There’s no place I’d rather be than here
Take time to smell the roses
As we have lost too many to overdoses
Enjoy what little time we have here
For soon enough the end is near
So do your part
And find it in your heart
To love one another
As if they were your brother

A Soldier's Sacrifice

He goes off to war to defend his land

Heavy artillery in hand

He leaves his family behind

Could you be this kind?

While away his wife has a baby

He hopes he can soon meet this little lady

He puts his life on the line

For only a mere dime

Always ready for deployment

It’s mandatory in his line of employment

It’s not humorous

Injuries and death are numerous

He feels so alone

He may never come home

Thoughts go through his head

What if he ends up dead?

What is his wife to do?

yet he is still here defending you

He gives up everything

To let freedom ring

He is my hero

Please God let the death count be zero

Always in uniform

Ready to weather any storm

Alway prepared to fight

Even in the middle of the night

Their sanity they hope to keep

Many nights without any sleep

Please pray they are not hurt

They need our support

Reach out, volunteer, perhaps lend a hand

Give back to those that defend our land

Proudly wave the flag

In honor of all he gave

My Dr Seuss Version of Don'T Do Drugs

I will not do drugs here nor there
I will not do drugs anywhere
I will not smoke
I'll say no to coke
I will not snort
I prefer to stay out of court
Save your cash
Don't buy hash
Marijuana leads to the munchies
You do not want to become a junkie
You may start to steal
Or even begin to deal
Taking a toke
Is no joke
Don't move onto a bong
Don't do drugs, stay strong
It costs a lot of money
And will leave you feeling ever so crummy
A needle in your arm
Can cause so much harm
Hallucinations galore
You'll keep craving more
You may end up ever so close
To being a victim of an overdose
Oh how I wish
You avoid this dish
It's a recipe for disaster
With no happily ever after
Don't let kids tease your son
For that surely won't be fun
Name calling
Is appalling
Names like Doug
On drugs
Or perhaps Zach
On crack
Or my man Seth
The creator of meth
I can see the writing on the wall
Drugs can be the most dangerous of all
Stay as strong as you can
If you need help I'll lend a hand
So don't do that crack
Cuz there's no turning back
It's not cool
Stay in school
You'll start skipping dinner
You'll get ever so thinner
You'll want more and more
So grateful you can't buy them at a store
It will be tough
And ever so rough
But please don't give me a scare
Do your best to hang in there
Help is always near
Just make someone aware
A friend will always be there
For someone they find ever so dear
So the jist
Of this twist
Is there are people out there
That really do care

The Proposal

I never thought I'd miss

Something as simple as a kiss

I would drive for miles

Just to see your smile

Feeling your warm embrace

Puts a smile on my face

The feeling of butterflies

Hoping our love never dies

Like a warm Summer breeze

Wrapped in your arms I won't freeze

It's a starry night

Everything feels just right

You got down on one knee

And looked up at me

Will you make me happy for the rest of my life?

By marrying me and becoming my wife

I will love you forever

Regardless of the weather

For you and me it will be

Until the end of eternity

I love you my dear

That is so clear

You are my best friend

Together until the very end

Here we stand hand in hand

May I have the wedding band?

Family and friends filled the pews

And witnessed us saying our I do-s

Our two worlds have become one

Honeymoon here we come

A Tribute To Jason

Just nineteen
So much of his life yet to be seen
When you feel all alone
You’re not...just pick up the phone
When you are feeling blue
Know there are people here for you
There is a light
You just need to find the strength to fight
It may be dim now
But soon it will glow
Life is full of ups and downs
Happiness, sadness, laughter and frowns
Despite the contrary
It's all temporary
It can change in the blink of an eye
Ending your life leaves your family to wonder why
Why you did not turn to your family and friends?
Why did you choose to seek an end?
To a life that had only just begun
A song that hadn't finished being sung
There were still so many chapters of your story to write
So why, why did you end your life?
Why didn't you put up a fight?
It just doesn't seem right
To those struggling please seek help
There are still so many flowers to be smelt
Join the walking angels and support a worthy cause
No one should have to come home to an empty house or endure such a loss
A house filled with memories of a loved one
Whose battle was not won

My Baby Girl

Right from the start
You stole my heart
It was love at first sight
I was full of delight
You were like no other
The reason I was now a mother
From the moment you were placed in my arm
I promised to protect you from harm
I would risk my life for you
But I bet you already knew
You were beautiful, perfect and oh so tiny
But there were many nights when you were whiny
For nine months I was oh so sick
But you were worth every risk
It took awhile for you to grow hair
For months there was just peach fuzz there
You cooed and you giggled
You squirmed and you wiggled
Your smile so bright
You lit up the night
Your eyes a beautiful shade of blue
How could I resist the urge to hold you?
My baby girl
My whole world

Time To Reboot

My hard drive has been wiped clean

It's time to rebuild my dream

Before my world shattered

You were all that really mattered

Finally I see how beautiful life can be

Now that I set you free

We promised to stay together until the end

But now it's just me and my friends

I used to be quiet and shy like a mouse

But in the divorce I got the house

Court fees cost a lot of loot

But now it's over I can finally reboot

Now when I look out the window pane

Nothing appears the same

Sometimes we need to shut our system down

To finally lose the frown

So glad there's no more drama

For now I'll wait for karma

A blank disk in my CD ROM

Time to create new memories and move on

An Old Record

Like an old forty five

I thought you'd always be by my side

With every spin of the turntable

You said you were ready, willing and able

But now our song is no longer on the countdown

Our divorce is final and you moved out of town

Rumors circulated about

And I had my doubts

But you confirmed my suspicion

Perhaps it was woman's intuition

So filled with frustration

And without hesitation

I asked you to leave

Don't bother me please

So like records you may no longer be around

I can finally hear the music and it's such a lovely sound

Me

I am me
I'm as happy as can be
I love to travel
I escape when things start to unravel
Life can sometimes be tough
But what I have in my life is enough
When there's a lot on your platter
It's not the material things that matter
One thing is for certain
That when you are hurting
Family and friends will always be there
To comfort you and lend an ear
When life throws you lessons
Just simply count your blessings
For no matter what you are going through
There's always someone worse off than you
