A Soldier's Sacrifice

He goes off to war to defend his land Heavy artillery in hand He leaves his family behind Could you be this kind? While away his wife has a baby He hopes he can soon meet this little lady He puts his life on the line For only a mere dime Always ready for deployment It’s mandatory in his line of employment It’s not humorous Injuries and death are numerous He feels so alone He may never come home Thoughts go through his head What if he ends up dead? What is his wife to do? yet he is still here defending you He gives up everything To let freedom ring He is my hero Please God let the death count be zero Always in uniform Ready to weather any storm Alway prepared to fight Even in the middle of the night Their sanity they hope to keep Many nights without any sleep Please pray they are not hurt They need our support Reach out, volunteer, perhaps lend a hand Give back to those that defend our land Proudly wave the flag In honor of all he gave
